Statistics Update: What Has Changed?

Find out in detail what effects the last release had on statistics and how statistics are now composed using an example.


With our last release we introduced our simplified referral form, which means that we have now divided the acceptance of a referral and the application into two steps. As a result, the definition of “referral” and “application” in the statistics has also changed. You can read more about this here.

With our upcoming release (on 23.11.2020), the historical data on the platform will be adjusted accordingly, meaning all applications via direct referrals and all applications via job shares that were generated prior to that update (on 19.10.2020) will be aligned accordingly. The statistics dashboard will now show the total number of referrals and applications according to the new process.


Old Calculation Example

Prior to the last release, if 12 applications were generated via direct referral and 8 applications via the shared job, the statistics looked like this:


New Calculation Example

With the new statistics update, we will add the 12 applications from the direct referrals and the 8 applications from the shared job under the statistics headings “Referrals” and “Applications” respectively:


The calculation again in detail:

   12      applications via direct referral
+   8      applications via the shared job
= 20      referrals

   12      applications via direct referral
+   8      applications via the shared job
= 20      applications

The reason for this adjustment is that the referral and the application were previously accepted in one step.

What happens now?

Now, when a new candidate accepts a referral, they will be counted under “Referrals”:


Once they complete their application, they will be counted under “Applications”:


If referred candidates do not complete their application, there will be more referrals than applications. Ideally, the number of referrals and applications will be the same.

Based on this new representation, it will now be easier to calculate conversion rates from referral to application, from application to hire or from referral to hire.

The number of applications via direct referral will continue to be shown in our reports.
